Maarten Baas' style is instantly recognisable in this unique cutlery set for Valerie Objects. The designs for each piece were lifted directly from sketch to factory, as with many of Bass' creations. A characteristic feature of this cutlery set is the irregular zigzag edge of the knife, an ostensibly simple intervention, which is precisely the most difficult part of production.

“The Cutlery Project” was initiated by valerie objects, in Antwerp in which they ask various designers to design a cutlery set consisting of a knife, table spoon, fork and tea spoon.

“Every time I saw a normal knife, I wished I could design one with funny teeth in a random zig-zag style. For this set, that knife was the starting point and the rest followed.”
