Studio Drift

dandelight & glass dome

Dandelight is a subtle and appealing light. The concept is based on one of Studio Drift's most famous works Fragile Future III.

The Dandelight is made of a real dandelion that is picked in large numbers in every spring and where each seed is placed one by one on an LED light.
pasted. The labor-intensive process symbolizes the vulnerability of life. It can be understood as a clear statement regarding mass production and the prevailing disposable culture. Because the rapid technological developments of our time are really more advanced than the evolution of nature,
of which the dandelion is such a symbolic and perishable example? Or could the two evolve together and meet again in the future?
Dandelight can be seen as an expression of a critical but utopian vision of our planet's future: where two seemingly opposing evolutions will pact to survive at all. With its quirky and distinctive aesthetic, Studio Drift imagines a vision of the future involving nature - both formally and philosophically - always serves as a starting point. The work is characterized by the intensive connection that is made between hi-tech finds and a poetic visual language, where the creative process is nurtured with innovative techniques that are intensively researched.
