Couple 2023 61313

Jan Theun van Rees (born 1960) is fascinated by the representation of space. Early on, he photographed hidden spaces in Chicago and in Amsterdam he documented dismantled museums and theatres for years.

A few years ago, a change occurred: The perception of a space became more important. He intervenes in spaces, for instance by adding curtains and panels, manipulating the incident light. The construction process is intuitive, without a clear plan. A facinating world emerges.
