Nicky Vollebregt, a graduate of the Willem de Kooning Academy, is a textile, object, and product designer known for her fascination with technique, material, and texture. She established Studio Nicky Vollebregt in 2021, where she blends traditional crafts with contemporary design to push the boundaries of textile techniques.

The HIGHLIGHT series (2021-2022) showcases sculptural objects made from handwoven lenticular textiles. These textiles create surfaces that play with colour, light, and perspective, revealing intricate handmade imperfections up close and mimicking rendered digital images from afar.

Vollebregt’s work centers on the handweaving loom, which she uses to experiment with texture and colour. Her rhythmic weaving process results in textiles with bold colour combinations and contrasting textures, manipulated by hand to create pleats and folds that enhance visual effects. The pieces reveal their handcrafted nature up close, while a distant view introduces a dynamic, glitch-like effect.
