Since 2007, Draga Obradovic and Aurel K. Basedow have been building a world where art and design intersect. Working from their studio, Draga & Aurel move between collectible design, interiors, and artistic experimentation: never tied to a single discipline.
With backgrounds in art, fashion, and craftsmanship, their practice is rooted in an intuitive approach to materials and a strong sense of composition. Early on, they became known for transforming vintage furniture into one-of-a-kind pieces, positioning themselves as pioneers of upcycling within the design world. This type of reinvention still runs through their work today.
Their debut at Milano Design Week in 2009 marked a defining moment, leading to collaborations with design brands such as Baxter, Wall&Decò, Visionnaire, Gallotti&Radice, Poltrona Frau, and Giorgetti. Alongside these partnerships, the studio has continued to expand its own collectible work.
In 2019, they introduced Transparency Matters, an ongoing collection exploring the interaction between light, color, and layered materials. The works shift and respond to their surroundings, creating pieces that feel almost atmospheric. The collection has since been presented in leading galleries and international fairs.
At Draga & Aurel, art and design exist in constant conversation. One informs the other, sometimes blending or contrasting, resulting in work that is both expressive and refined.
