Willem Zwiers is a Dutch designer working between ceramics and sculpture. After graduating from Design Academy Eindhoven in 2023, he developed a practice centered around experimentation, intuition, and hands-on making. Rather than working towards a fixed outcome, his process evolves through material, testing, and repetition.
Working mainly with ceramics, Zwiers often develops his own tools and techniques as part of the making process. Forms emerge through movement and construction, allowing irregularities, fingerprints, and surface marks to remain visible within the final object. This direct way of working gives the pieces a strong sense of spontaneity and material presence.
His objects balance function with a more sculptural and playful quality. Vases, lights, and pouring forms are shaped through an open and exploratory approach, where asymmetry, texture, and proportion play an important role. The resulting works feel expressive and tactile, while remaining closely connected to the hand-made process behind them.
