The Crisis collection takes its name from a period of economic uncertainty experienced by designer Piet Hein Eek between 2001 and 2002. Although the impact on his studio proved limited, the moment inspired a new approach to design and production. During this time, the workshop invested in a computer-controlled milling machine, which became the catalyst for the first pieces in the Crisis series.
Crafted from affordable plywood sheets, the collection was conceived as an accessible and resourceful furniture range, combining efficiency in production with the distinctive character and craftsmanship for which Piet Hein Eek is known.
