The Freeform Sofa, which is completely different from other designs of the time, expresses Noguchi's formal language as a sculptor. The Freeform Sofa and pouf are reminiscent of flat, rounded river stones. The sleek organic shapes are fluid and graceful. Noguchi emphasizes this natural effect with a thin, but comfortable fabric cover in natural colors. The Freeform Sofa and the accompanying pouf were only produced in limited numbers around 1950. The few surviving copies now reach record prices at auctions. Since 2002, this furniture has been faithfully produced by the Vitra Design Museum. The sofa is ideal for home interiors, but also for lobbies, hotels and shops. Information.
