Sprout | First Symptoms

Kustaa Saksi is a Finnish multidisciplinary visual artist and surface designer based in Amsterdam, The Netherlands, specialising in graphic storytelling through patterns, textile art and installation.

The exhibition First Symptoms presents unique tapestries manufactured with Jacquard weaving technique, which are portraying the ways of migraine behaviour with drastic contrasts in material use, repeating patterns and rhythmic textures with disorders. The Sprout tapestry is woven using mohair, wool, acryl, rubber and plastic yarns resulting in richly layered, multi-sensory works that draws its inspiration and texture from the scientific examination and personal experience of migraine.
